How food prepares the body for new life
The genesis of new life is the most energy-intensive biochemical process on the planet. Egg cell maturation takes exactly 90 days. During this period, the future egg cell accumulates mitochondrial energy, builds DNA integrity, and tunes receptor sensitivity to hormones.
Reproductive biology works on the principle of absolute resource availability:
- Oocyte quality. The egg cell is the largest cell in the human body. It needs a large volume of mitochondria — the "cellular power plants" — to ensure proper chromosome division.
- Protection from hypoxia. A strong iron reserve and high ferritin saturate uterine and ovarian tissues with oxygen, and the body reads the environment as safe for conception.
- Double load on the endocrine system. The thyroid and liver work at double capacity during preparation and pregnancy. They need precise micronutrient cofactors: iodine, selenium, zinc, methylfolate.

Crystal egg quality · 90 days
What happens: during the 90 days before ovulation, the follicle undergoes its final growth stage. Egg cell DNA is especially sensitive to free radicals at this stage, and its mitochondria need abundant fuel.
Goal: saturate the oocyte with mitochondrial energy, protect genetic material, and prepare ovarian receptors.
Foods: grapefruit, melon, almonds (inositol); runny egg yolk (choline); spinach, asparagus, broccoli (methylfolate); wild salmon, yolks (vitamin D).
Science: methylfolate from fresh greens together with choline from yolk supports precise DNA copying. Inositol improves follicular fluid quality and creates a comfortable environment for oocyte maturation.
Iron capital · hypoxia protection
What happens: to carry a pregnancy, the body increases circulating blood volume by nearly 40–50%. A strong ferritin reserve (from 40–50 mcg/L) prepares the body for this load in advance.
Goal: build a deep ferritin reserve in the liver and tissues, maintain hemoglobin levels.
Foods: quality beef, mussels, tempeh, organ meats — liver in a small portion no more than once every 1–2 weeks, due to high vitamin A content.
Science: heme iron from animal protein is absorbed 5 times more efficiently than plant iron. Lemon juice (vitamin C) converts iron into an easily absorbable form, and a 1.5-hour gap before and after coffee or tea preserves absorption — tannins and polyphenols bind iron in the gut.
Foundation · protection and hormonal base
What happens: in the first three months, the mother's thyroid works for two, supplying T3/T4 hormones for fetal brain development while neural connections are forming.
Goal: support the thyroid, ensure B12-folate complex synthesis, lay the lipid foundation for the fetal brain.
Foods: wakame seaweed, seafood, Brazil nuts (iodine and selenium); red meat, eggs (vitamin B12); pumpkin seeds (zinc); mackerel, sardines, salmon, seaweed (omega-3 DHA).
Science: selenium from Brazil nuts supports thyroid tissue under high load. Zinc participates in successful embryo implantation, and DHA fats build the neuronal cell membranes of the future child.
Sample day
- Morning: 2-egg omelet with runny yolk, braised asparagus and broccoli in olive oil, a handful of almonds
- Day: lean beef steak or baked poultry with lemon juice, cucumber and greens salad with pumpkin seeds, coffee or tea — 1.5 hours after the meal
- Evening: steamed wild salmon or mackerel, wakame seaweed salad with olive oil, 1 Brazil nut
Protocol focus
Alcohol is paused completely — it affects the DNA of the maturing egg cell and folate absorption. Large predatory fish (tuna, swordfish, king mackerel) are replaced with salmon, sardines, and mackerel — so the body gets omega-3 without the risk of mercury accumulation, which impairs nervous system development.
Additional routines for reproductive balance
